Paper Cutting

Paper cutting or 剪纸 (jian zhi) is originally from china. Usually the cut outs are used to decorate doors and windows which sometimes referred to "窗花" (chuang hua), meaning Window Flower.

There are two methods to do this paper cut: one use scissors, the other use knives. In the scissor method, several pieces of paper — up to eight — are fastened together. The motif is then cut with sharp, pointed scissors.

I prefer knife cutting as i just need to follow the pattern and cut it with sharp knife. Doing the paper cuts really need your patient and carefulness, if you make mistake, you will ruin your paper cuts.

All my paper cuts can be viewed from the Picasa album at the sidebar.
